Cloud Lyft Q & A

Are You Dealing with Pain in the Ball of Your Foot?

Do you feel discomfort when walking barefoot on hard surfaces like tile or concrete? Ladies—do your favorite high heels leave you in pain? Gentlemen—do jumping or lunging movements cause pain under the knuckles of your feet? If any of this sounds familiar, you might be experiencing symptoms of Capsulitis or Metatarsalgia, two very common conditions we treat at Lincoln Park Podiatry.

This type of pain is often caused by structural issues in the foot, which can make them tricky to manage. While surgery is an option, many people aren’t ready to take that step. If you’ve already tried pads, inserts, anti-inflammatory medications, or even steroid injections without much relief, there may be another solution worth considering— a Cloud Lyft.

What Is a Cloud Lyft?

The Cloud Lyft is a quick, in-office procedure that takes about 30 minutes and can provide months of relief from pain in the ball of your foot.

Here’s how it works: we use a special substance called Hyaluronic Acid, commonly found in skincare and facial fillers, to create a soft cushion— or “cloud”—under the painful joints in your foot. This naturally occurring substance attracts and binds to water, creating a gentle, supportive pillow that absorbs pressure and reduces pain.

Most patients feel an immediate difference after the treatment. There’s no downtime—you will walk out of the office the same day and can resume exercise within 48 hours. The effects typically last around 6 months, and for many, that’s a great alternative to repeated steroid injections or surgery.

Is It Safe?

Yes! Hyaluronic Acid is widely used in facial skincare and is considered very safe. The only precautions are for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as there isn’t enough data available yet for those groups. If you are allergic it should be avoided. The product dissolves over a few months and can even be reversed if needed.

Are Cloud Lyft Covered by Insurance?

While the Cloud Lyft procedure isn’t covered by insurance, it costs just a few hundred dollars per foot—a small price to pay for long-lasting relief, especially when compared to the high costs of surgery or recurring steroid injections. Plus, you can use your HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost, making it even more budget-friendly. It’s an easy, non-invasive option that helps you get back on your feet without breaking the bank.
